Oregon author explores death in visionary new novel, Farewell, Everything
Post-flood magical realism for the age of climate uncertainty
CORVALLIS, Ore., November 11, 2019 – Nowhere Press, independent publisher of speculative fiction and magical realism, is pleased to announce the release of Farewell, Everything, a metaphysical dystopian novel by debut author Véva Perala.
In a future recovering from climate fallout, a troubled runaway named Osha finds himself thousands of miles from home, gravely ill, and dragged into a war he knows nothing about. As his health, reality, and sanity all crumble, Osha unwittingly trades his life for a fever dream of half-truths and hidden realms. Helped and hindered by a cast of mystics, rebels and ghosts, he stumbles through the stages of grief – denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance – seeking a cure for his disease, a light in the darkness of war, and a better version of himself.
Straddling realms in both plot and style, Farewell, Everything merges humor and horror, past and future, and earthly existence with the great mysteries beyond.
Farewell, Everything by Véva Perala is to be published on November 11, 2019, from Nowhere Press. It will be immediately available on paperback (list price $19.99, 332 pages, ISBN 9781734086607) and ebook ($6.99, ISBN 9781734086614) from select booksellers, with wider retail distribution forthcoming in December 2019. Twenty percent of the net profits from sales of this book will be donated to the following 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations: the Sierra Club Foundation, Prevent Child Abuse America, and RAINN.
